ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Paris has for centuries been a beacon of light to the world both politically and artistically. Writers, painters, actors, directors, and of course musicians have been drawn to it from around the globe, both contributing to and drawing inspiration from its exceptional atmosphere and energy. This concert explores music of composers from various eras and geographical origins who have one thing in common: an artistically influential trip to Paris in their lifetime. The variety of different colors, styles and moods you will hear in this program is a tribute to the vivacity of Paris and its people. These concerts are also the faculty presentation for a special program titled Chamber Music for Peace, a series of workshops for students age 18 and under who play a string instrument or flute.
Even though this program was planned some time ago, recent events have moved us to dedicate these performances to the memory of those killed in the recent attacks in Paris as well as to others around the globe whose voices have been unjustly silenced.
The concerts will be followed by a delicious receptions where audience members can mingle and talk with the performers. Freewill offering will be collected at the door.
